Where to play Star Wars: Unlimited in Dublin

Dave O'KeeffeDave O'Keeffe

Star Wars: Unlimited has the steadiest Thursday night crowd in the building. It is a two-player game from Fantasy Flight, the people behind X-Wing and Arkham Horror, and it was built from the start for people who have never played a trading card game: one set of rules for casual play and tournaments, a starter set that is a real game out of the box, and a ground-and-space board that makes sense to anyone who has seen the films. This is the guide to playing it in Dublin.

The formats, in plain words

Premier, which most people just call Standard. The main format and the one Thursday is played in. A Leader, a Base, and a 50-card deck built from the sets that are currently legal. Your Leader starts on the table and flips into a unit partway through the game, which is the moment every game turns on.

Draft. You do not bring a deck. Everyone opens packs, takes one card, passes the rest, and builds a deck from what they picked. The cards are yours to keep afterwards. Draft is available on Thursday nights when enough people want one, and it is the best way to start if you have no cards at all.

Sealed and prerelease. You open a kit and build from it on the spot. Every new set gets a prerelease before release, and they are the busiest card nights we run, so when one goes up on the events page do not leave it long.

Thursday locals night here

Every Thursday from 7pm to 10pm. Walk in, no booking, beginners always welcome. Standard one-on-one Premier games, or a draft on the night when enough people want one. Thursday is locals night, with Pokémon running at the next tables, and there are participation promos for everyone who plays.

The entry fee is being settled at the moment, so check the events page or ask at the counter before you come down. Everything else is as above.

What a first Thursday is like

You arrive a bit before 7, say hello at the counter, and sit down. There are usually a few people already there sleeving decks or arguing about the last set. Games are one-on-one and take about twenty minutes, so you get several in, against different people, and between them there is a coffee and a look at what everyone else is playing.

If it is your first night, say so. A starter set is the cheapest way into any card game we run, and someone at the table who loves this game will walk you through your first few turns with it. The rules fit on a card: play units, attack bases, flip your leader at the right moment, and do not spend all your resources on turn two. By the third Thursday you will have your own deck and an opinion about Boba Fett.

Buying cards

Star Wars: Unlimited is the game we are best stocked for. We sell Star Wars: Unlimited singles online, about 1,700 of them, with the stock and prices live on the page, and you can collect in the shop or have them posted. Leaders, bases, units, events and upgrades from every set so far.

For sealed product, boosters and starter sets, ask at the counter for what is in this week. If you are selling rather than buying, ask at the counter too and we will go through the binder with you.

Other places to play in Dublin

Star Wars: Unlimited is newer than the other card games and the Dublin listings have not caught up with it: Play TCG Ireland did not show a weekly Star Wars: Unlimited night at any Dublin shop the week we checked, 15 October 2026. The city-centre shops run most of the big games, so if you are in town on a different night ask at Gamers World on Jervis Street or The Warchest on Hardy's Lane, a few minutes from us. Official store events for the game are listed on Melee.gg, which is where tournaments are registered.

For now, Thursday in Dún Laoghaire is the night, and the DART stops a few minutes from the door.

Where to start

Come on a Thursday. Bring a starter set if you have one and just yourself if you do not, and by ten o'clock you will know whether this is your game. If it is, a prerelease is the second step, because that is where most of the Thursday regulars came from.

We are at 75 York Road, Dún Laoghaire, open till 10pm Monday to Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. If you want a second night in the week, the Riftbound locals are on Wednesday and the Magic draft is on Friday.
