Where to play the One Piece Card Game in Dublin
Dave O'Keeffe
One Piece is the card game that filled up fastest here. It arrived in 2022, it is built on a show people already love, and the game underneath the artwork is tight and quick to pick up. Our Saturday tournament has been running every week since we opened the doors to it, and most of the people at the tables now started by walking in with a starter deck. This is the guide to doing the same: what the game is, what Saturday is like, and where else in Dublin it is played.
The game, in plain words
You pick a Leader card, usually a character from the show, and build a 50-card deck in that leader's colours. Each turn you play characters, attack with them, and try to knock your opponent's Leader down through their Life cards. The twist that makes it good is the DON!! pile: ten energy cards that come out a couple at a time over the game. You spend them to play cards or attach them to characters to hit harder, so every turn is a decision about where the DON!! go, and there are no dead draws of land the way there are in Magic.
Standard. The only format that matters. Fifty cards plus your Leader, built from the sets that are currently legal. The starter decks sold in the box are legal and playable as they come, which is rare for a card game and the reason this one is easy to start.
Store tournament. The official Bandai event most shops run weekly. Short, friendly, and the way the game is meant to be played. Ours is on Saturday.
The Saturday store tournament here
Every Saturday at 12pm, running to about 4pm. It is €8, walk in, no booking. Standard one-on-one, three rounds of swiss, and prizes come off the wall. Bring your own deck; a starter deck is fine for your first few weeks and nobody will mind.
Swiss means you play three games against three different people and you are never knocked out. Win or lose, you get the three rounds, and after the first round you are paired with someone on the same record as you, so the games stay close. Our events are listed on Bandai TCG+, the official app, and on our events page.
What a first Saturday is like
You arrive a bit before noon and pay at the counter. There are usually a few people already sleeving decks or looking at the week's results. At 12 the pairings go up and you sit down for round one.
A game takes about half an hour, so a round is forty minutes or so, with a short gap between for a coffee. Three rounds and the day is done by four. If you are new, say so at the counter. Someone at the tables loves this game more than is sensible and will be glad to talk you through your first turn, your first attack and the moment you realise you should have kept a counter card in hand. By the second week you will have a view on which leader suits you, and that is the real start of the game.
Buying cards
A starter deck is the way in. Ask at the counter for what is in this week, because One Piece sealed product sells out everywhere and what we have changes delivery to delivery. After that, most people want a few specific cards for the deck they are building, and that is singles. We do not have One Piece singles online yet, so ask us at the counter and we will tell you what is in the binder and where to get the rest.
If you are tidying a collection rather than building one, we buy cards. Pokémon is priced through the card value checker; One Piece and Magic are priced at the counter.
Other places to play in Dublin
One Piece has the busiest weekly calendar of any card game in Dublin, so if Saturday does not suit there are other nights. Days and times are from the shops' listings on Play TCG Ireland on 15 October 2026, so check before you travel.
- Gamers World, 1 Jervis Street, Dublin 1. The city-centre option. One Piece on Monday at 6.30pm.
- The Warchest, Hardy's Lane, Dún Laoghaire. Just down the road from us. One Piece on Tuesday at 7pm.
- Underworld Gaming, Belgard Square West, Tallaght. The busiest One Piece shop in the county: Monday at 7pm, Wednesday at 7pm and Friday at 7pm.
Between us and The Warchest, Dún Laoghaire has One Piece on Tuesday night and Saturday afternoon, both a few minutes from the DART.
Where to start
Buy a starter deck, come on a Saturday, play your three rounds. It costs €8, you need nothing else, and by four o'clock you will know whether the game is for you. Most people who try it come back the next week with a different leader.
We are at 75 York Road, Dún Laoghaire, open from 10am on Saturdays and till 11pm, so the tournament can turn into an afternoon. If you want a weeknight game too, the Magic draft is on Friday and Riftbound is on Wednesday.
