Where to play Disney Lorcana in Dublin

Dave O'KeeffeDave O'Keeffe

Lorcana is the card game people play with their kids and then keep playing after the kids have gone to bed. It is Disney's own trading card game, made by Ravensburger, and it is the one we recommend to anyone who finds Magic a bit much: the rules are short, the art is the point, and a game takes fifteen minutes. Monday night is one of our newer nights and it has grown every week. This is the guide to it, and to the Hyperia City prerelease on 19 October.

The game, in plain words

You are an Illumineer, and the Disney characters in your deck are glimmers you call into play. The aim is to collect twenty lore before your opponent, and you do it by sending characters off on quests. Every character can either quest for lore or challenge an opposing character, not both, which is the whole game in one sentence: do you score, or do you stop them scoring.

Constructed, which the game calls Core. A 60-card deck in up to two of the six ink colours, built from the sets that are currently legal. This is what Monday is played in. The pre-built starter decks are legal as they come and are a good first deck for a few weeks.

Prerelease. You get a kit from the new set before it is on sale, build a deck from it on the day, and play. Nobody has the new cards yet, so it is the most level night of the year and the easiest first night.

Monday Locals here

Every Monday at 6.30pm, running to 9.30pm. It is €8, pay on arrival, no booking, all welcome. Standard one-on-one constructed, bring your own deck. Conor runs it, and there is nobody in the building who loves this game more.

If you have never played at a shop, say so when you pay. Games are quick, so a slow first one costs nobody anything, and a starter deck straight out of the box is a perfectly good first deck.

The Hyperia City prerelease, Monday 19 October

Hyperia City is the fourteenth Lorcana set and it is out on 23 October. The prerelease is on Monday 19 October at 7pm, €40, and you register on the Ravensburger Play page for the event. You get the cards four days before anyone can buy them, build a deck from the kit, and play one-on-one rounds against everyone else's. All welcome, and it is on the events page with the rest of October.

What a first Monday is like

You arrive a bit before 6.30 and pay at the counter. There are usually a few people already there going through their decks, and the room is quieter than a Saturday. Games are one-on-one and take fifteen or twenty minutes, so you play a good few over the night against different people, with a coffee in between.

The first thing you will learn is when to quest and when to challenge, and the second is that inking the right card each turn matters more than it looks. By the third Monday you will have picked your two colours and started chasing specific cards, which is where the next section comes in.

Buying cards

We sell Disney Lorcana singles online, a couple of hundred of them from The First Chapter onwards, with the stock and prices live on the page. Collect in the shop or have them posted. For starter decks and boosters, including Hyperia City once it is released, ask at the counter for what is in this week.

If you are selling rather than buying, ask at the counter and we will go through the cards with you.

Other places to play in Dublin

Lorcana is quieter in Dublin than One Piece or Magic, so there are fewer nights to choose from. Days and times are from the shops' listings on Play TCG Ireland on 15 October 2026, so check before you travel.

  • Gamers World, 1 Jervis Street, Dublin 1. The city-centre option. Lorcana on Thursday at 6.30pm.
  • Board & Brewed, 75 York Road, Dún Laoghaire. Us. Monday at 6.30pm.

That was the whole list the week we checked, so between the two of you get a Monday and a Thursday. The official store locator at Ravensburger Play lists prereleases and events for every shop as they are added.

Where to start

Buy a starter deck, come on a Monday, and play. It costs €8, you need nothing else, and by half nine you will know whether Lorcana is for you. If you want the cleanest possible start, the prerelease on 19 October is it: everyone builds from the same kit.

We are at 75 York Road, Dún Laoghaire, open till 10pm Monday to Thursday. Blood on the Clocktower runs on the same Monday night if someone you came with would rather play that.
